Florida crash results in personal injury to 4 people

Drivers in Florida and across the country must be alert and constantly aware of their surroundings, including traffic moving in the opposite direction. Even the most cautious, diligent drivers, however, are not always able to avoid collisions, especially if a nearby motorist is negligent or reckless. One person’s driving error often results in personal injury to drivers and passengers in other vehicles, as well as others in or near the roadway.

A recent collision involved three cars. Just after 5 p.m. on a recent Sunday an eastbound vehicle rear-ended a car going in the same direction. As is common in such collisions, the sudden force of the impact sent the front car barreling into the lane of traffic headed in the opposite direction.

A second, head-on collision then took place. Numerous people, including one victim who had to be airlifted, suffered injuries and were transported to area hospitals for treatment. The incident prompted a shut-down in both directions on the highway that lasted for several hours. Such collisions are often caused by driver negligence; in fact, it’s not uncommon for accident victims to later learn that the drivers who hit them was texting while driving or acting under the influence of alcohol or drugs when their accidents occurred.

When a Florida collision results in personal injury, it often leads to financial distress. Medical care is expensive and recovering victims may not be prepared to meet the expense. Severe injuries often need to take time off work to recover, which can make the financial burden of a situation even worse. State law allows those who are seriously injured due to another party’s negligence to seek financial recovery for their losses by filing a personal injury claim in a civil court.
