Motor vehicle accidents often result in injuries for those involved. When a pedestrian is involved, the personal injury can be severe or even fatal. A Florida pedestrian’s surviving family may be considering its options after the man was recently killed in a collision between two vehicles.
According to police, the victim was sitting under a tree near the intersection where the crash took place. A car traveling east whose driver was attempting to cross the intersection was reportedly struck by another car traveling north along the road. The impact caused the eastbound car to change direction, which resulted in that vehicle striking the man sitting under the tree.
The victim passed away as a result of the injuries he suffered in the crash. One of the drivers and her two children were reportedly uninjured. The condition of the other driver was not reported. Police are still investigating, but a spokesman for the police department stated that they do not believe that alcohol was a factor in the collision.
Should a victim lose his or her life in a car accident, the surviving family may be entitled to file a wrongful death claim in civil court against any party believed to be responsible. Should the defendant be successfully proved negligent, the plaintiffs could then receive monetary damages that could be used to help pay for medical bills, funeral costs or other monetary damages related to the collision. Anyone interested in learning more about such claims could consult an experienced Florida personal injury attorney for information and assistance.
